Omso, Another Succes Story From The Packaging Valley

Omso is a Company that well represents the “Packaging Valley”, an excellence of our Region. Omso was founded in 1952, and has branches in the US and Germany. It is the world leader in the production of automatic machines for silkscreen, offset and digital printing, mainly for the food and beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors. For ten years, Omso has been supplying first plant machines along with our cranes mod. GZ1000, as essential complements for the handling of those machines.

“Actually, Mod. GZ1000 was constructed ten years ago by AXA on OMSO’s specific request. Omso needed a crane to lift loads up to 1000 kg, that we did not have in our range at that time” – explains Marco Marabini, sales manager of AXA – and after that, this model became a standard”.

OMSO designs, constructs and tests the machines in its plant in Reggio Emilia, then machines are partially disassembled and packed to be sent abroad.   

“AxA crane GZ1000 is an essential part of our supplies “– says Luca Bigliardi, purchasing director of OMSO, – because our clients use this crane for reassemble the machines once they have reached destination, and also in all the following maintenance operations. Small footprint, compact structure and easy handling make this type of crane ideal to perform these tasks. Moreover, operators can work safely, in full respect of Health and Safety provisions. »

« The crane allows a quick and easy picking up and placing of loads directly onto or inside the machines. In the video, we see a machine in operation which will be sent to the US, and which has been designed to decorate plastic bottles – explains Fausto Bassoli, OMSO head of inspection and testing department.-« 

This machine has six printing stations. AXA crane is used in putting in place every station.After installation, the crane will further serve as a tool to enter the machine, lift and extract every single printing component that needs maintenance, without having to disassemble the rest of the machine”

Series GZ comes with either double action manual pump or electric lifting. Omso purchases the manual model.

“Electric cranes need more severe testing and certification than manual cranes”– says Marabini – in some countries, it would be difficult to obtain those certifications. That is why manual version is preferable if the crane does not need an intensive use”.
